Yannick Waumans is global head of Pathology, Imaging and Quantification at CRO CellCarta. There he leads a dynamic team of anatomic pathologists, imaging scientists and operators that every day converts the hidden information contained within histological slides into actionable biomarker data for hundreds of clinical trials, mostly within the immune oncology field. Yannick has worked at CellCarta for 8 years and in that time helped transform his department into one of the global leaders in digital pathology. CellCarta’s Pathology department has for the past years provided PDL1 scores for a multitude of clinical trials working with most of the large leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies within the immune therapy domain. Having had a passion for immunology ever since his PhD days, Yannick has tried to bring that interest to bear using a data-driven approach to combine traditional histopathological interpretation methods with novel image analysis platforms, helping clients hone in on their patient’s likelihood to respond to therapy and its underlying mechanisms.
