An Emergency Response Dr. Marguerite Koutsoukos is the Director leading the Ebola and HIV Vaccine Programs at GlaxoSmithKline, based in Rixensart, Belgium. She completed her MS in molecular biology at the Universit? libre de Bruxelles, Belgium where she started her career as a researcher in the field of immunology in the laboratory of Professor Jacques Urbain. Very soon, she joined the industry, starting at GSK in basic research on the identification of immune target on herpes simplex virus. She initiated and further developed and headed the cellular immunology platform before moving to management and leadership of programs and collaborations in different vaccine areas (EBV, RSV, Malaria, adjuvants,?.). During the last 16 years, she concentrated her efforts on HIV where she played a key role in the research and development of several prophylactic and therapeutic HIV vaccine candidates up to their clinical evaluation, essentially through public and private partnerships.
